Free Training Seminar for Restaurant & Tavern Owners, Managers and Servers, Tuesday, April 19, Wiltwyck Golf Course – Kingston, New York

The Empire State Restaurant & Tavern Association is hosting a seminar for restaurant and tavern owners and their staffs in conjunction with the NYS Liquor Authority on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Wiltwyck Golf Course located at 404 Steward Lane in Kingston. This training program is presented free of charge thanks to the sponsorship of Anheuser-Busch, Empire Merchants North, Heineken USA, MillerCoors and Southern Wine & Spirits.

The morning session, the ABC’s of the ABC Law, focuses on the responsibilities of licensees in maintaining a premise that is in compliance with the Alcoholic Beverage Control law. This training covers the topics vital to keeping on-premises establishments in compliance with the law. This session for owners and managers of restaurants and bars will be held from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Doors open at 9:30 am.

The afternoon session, the Alcohol Training Awareness Program (ATAP), addresses the responsibilities of servers to prevent sales to minors and sales to visibly intoxicated patrons. Participation in ATAP training can be used as part of a defense to an SLA violation, to reduce a penalty issued by the SLA and may reduce your insurance rates. Servers can also use their ATAP certification as a defense a criminal charge of an illegal sale. The ATAP server training session will be held from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. Doors open at 1:15 pm.
