Straw Upon Request

The Trash Free Waters initiative, a partnership of government, environmental, civic and business organizations has started a campaign to reduce the use of single-use plastic straws in restaurants, bars and hotels to reduce the amount of plastic pollution in the waterways. They want businesses to adopt a voluntary policy to only provide straws to patrons upon request. Not only is this good for the environment, they contend, but it also can save money for participating businesses by reducing the number of straws used and reducing waste disposal costs from fewer straws being discarded.
