Statement of ESRTA Executive Director on White House Plans to Re-Open the Economy

Scott Wexler, ESRTA Executive Director, issued the following statement on the White House Plans to Re-Open the Economy:

“The White House COVID-19 plan to re-open the economy in stages misses the mark by recommending large venues, such as sit-down dining and movies theaters, be allowed to operate while bars would not be able to re-open under the same protocols. Bars that are capable of establishing appropriate social distancing by separating their customers at tables and bar stools should be allowed to re-open the same way other establishments will. We welcome the opportunity to work with Governor Cuomo, DOH Commissioner Zucker, and SLA Chairman Bradley to build a path forward for New York that gives the state’s hospitality industry the chance to return to serving our customers in a safe environment.”
