NYS Relaxes Rules for Golf Courses

The guidance from New York State for the operations of golf courses have been revised, relaxing the rules throughout the state. The following was removed from the guidance:

”However, golf courses are not essential and cannot have employees working on-premise; notwithstanding this restriction, essential services, such as groundskeeping to avoid hazardous conditions and security, provided by employees, contractors, or vendors are permitted and private operators may permit individuals access to the property so long as there are no gatherings of any kind and appropriate social distancing of six feet between individuals is strictly abided”

And the following was added:

“Outdoor, low-risk recreational activities are permitted so long as social distancing and cleaning/disinfecting measures are in place:

    • tennis;
    • non-motorized boat use and rentals, such as row boats, kayaks, canoes; and
    • golf and driving ranges, except miniature (mini) golf, with food and retail services subject to the restrictions that are currently in effect within the region

That means that the earlier restrictions are no longer in place. The primary restrictions that remain on golf operations are to your restaurant/bar and golf retail operations. They will follow the schedule for their industries.
