NYC Indoor Dining Postponed – Rest of State Continues to Reopen – Focus on Compliance

Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio made it official this morning, announcing that indoor dining in New York City will not be allowed as of Monday, July 6th, as was planned. Flagrant non-compliance with physical distancing & face covering rules along with mass gatherings around bars throughout the five boros have raised concerns about a possible re-emergence of COVID-19. This is complicated by the news that 37 states have out-of-control spread of the virus.

We’ve written previously that physical distancing & face coverings are not controversial. They are the best means we have to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. And they’re the law. The Department of Health, the State Liquor Authority, the State Police, and local enforcement officers are out visiting businesses to ensure compliance.

The only way to avoid another shutdown, and possible economic disaster for this industry, is to follow the public health guidelines.
