Managing Your Business Through the Coronavirus Outbreak

As you heard or read, a new coronavirus – 2019 Novel Coronavirus – that was first detected in China is now spreading worldwide. This virus causes a disease called COVID-19 and can lead to fever, cough and shortness of breath. There are thousands of confirmed cases in a growing number of countries internationally and the virus is now spreading in the United States.

Our local, state and federal governments are actively engaged in working to stop the spread of this illness and to get appropriate treatment for those who are impacted. We look to these authorities for guidance for how you should respond. Currently there are no directives to close or otherwise limit the activities of your patrons, although the public is most definitely slowing down their public activity. The New York State Department of Health has issued guidance for cleaning and disinfecting public and private facilities which we strongly encourage you to follow unless you receive other guidance from your local health authorities.

It does appear likely that the New York State Assembly and Senate will pass and the Governor will sign guaranteed access to sick leave legislation which will include a coronavirus quarantine leave requirement. We’ll advise you of its provisions and your obligations as soon as we know more.

This is a rapidly changing situation so check here regularly for updates.
