Join Small Business Owners to Speak Out

We’re joining once again with the National Federation of Independent Business and a coalition of business groups to host Small Business Day at the State Capitol. This year’s event is scheduled for March 8th and will focus on the $15 minimum wage proposal. Participation is free but registration is required. You can use the enclosed form to register.

We need your participation more this year than ever. The “Fight for $15” campaign has misrepresented the facts, focusing on the small segment of the industry with low-tipped workers. You have to explain the reality of working in the hospitality industry to your legislators. They must hear directly from you how the recent increase in the tipped minimum wage affected your business and employees and how the proposed increase in the minimum wage will impact you. You to have to explain to your representatives that a small business tax cut worth $3,000 – $7,000 per business each year as the Governor has offered doesn’t make up for the substantial increase in labor costs.

It’s important that you join us in Albany to tell your story to your representative, but if you cannot get here we’ll have a “Virtual Small Business Day” option for you. This will allow you to send a message to your elected officials supporting the work of those who make it to the Capital. Watch out website for this feature to be enabled.
